1. Capability Brown’s Landscape

Designed by the most famous figure in the history of English landscape gardening, our Capability Brown landscape features 120 acres of ancient trees, a lake, an 18th century bridge, woodland, wildflower meadows and an abundance of local wildlife. We also have temporary outdoor installations which can make for the most unique and colourful photography settings!

The seemingly endless rolls of land provide the setting of an idyllic countryside hideaway where the only noises you can hear are your own guests and the sounds of nature. Have some incredible couple and group photos taken outside or even have your civil ceremony in our courtyard or amongst the woodland to be surrounded by nature!

2. Art

As an art gallery first and foremost, Compton Verney is full of beautiful art; historical and contemporary. From Canaletto’s masterpieces to a portrait of Henry VIII, loans from the National Portrait Gallery and ground-breaking exhibitions that feature an array of rich artefacts. All housed within an historic 18th century house, the galleries glow with light, history, and elegance which accentuates the art and you!

At Compton Verney you are part of the art, part of the history and you can get married surrounded by art you’ll fall in love with and make your day as romantic and artistic as you. You can even meet your registrars in our historic Women’s Library with a Canaletto over your shoulder or have a Celebrant lead your ceremony in our Old Town Meadow at the site of a vibrant contemporary installation!

3. Architecture

Built by world-renowned neo-classical architect Robert Adam with it’s unique white washed hall and the sympathetically built Capability Brown Chapel, the architecture of Compton Verney perfectly marries a historic setting built for grandeur and a neutral and calming colour scheme that makes the ideal backdrop for your colours and theme to ‘pop’!
