The Chapel

A short walk from the main house, our beautifully restored Grade 1 Capability Brown Chapel provides a traditional location for your ceremony. Intricate plaster and marble-work adorn the ceiling and walls, and large windows fill the space with natural light. The chapel has been licensed to hold civil ceremonies and can accommodate up to 100 guests.

Galleries

Offering a unique backdrop for your wedding, we have a world class collection of artworks and a changing programme of historical and contemporary exhibitions.

Our galleries are surprising and full of creative energy. Plus, our Women’s Library, steeped in feminist history and a perfect space for intimate celebrations.

Adam Hall

With large picture windows, marble floor, ornate pillars and high ceilings, The Adam Hall is a grand, traditional room that exudes timeless elegance. The Adam Hall is an exquisite setting for civil ceremonies and wedding breakfasts, for up to 100 guests, accommodating up to 150 guests for evening receptions.

Outdoor Weddings

A stunning landscape should never be wasted so why not try an outdoor ceremony or reception? Our magnificent stone pillars frame a classic portico where you can take your vows with guests seated in the courtyard. Or guests can enjoy drinks, explore the Capability Brown landscape, gaze across the lake and soak in every minute of your special day. 100 guest seated.

Our aim is to cater for your every taste – by providing you with an extensive mouth-watering array of dishes to choose from. We hope that our culinary skills match your appetite for good food which is prepared in accordance with strict hygiene regulations and by using an abundance of aromatic spices and freshly sourced ingredients from around the world.

What is included in the Compton Verney venue hire?

·         The hire of the Adam Hall & Old Servants Hall from 09.00 until 23.30
·         The Chapel along with 5 other ceremony spaces are available.
·         Civil ceremonies are restricted by capacity –
Chapel capacity 100 people
Adam Hall capacity 100 people
Courtyard & portico 100 people (8 under portico)
Naples Capacity 60 people
BP capacity 60 people
WL capacity 25 people
·         The hire of the ground floor galleries during the drinks reception (in the event of bad weather/ by agreement of the Event Manager)
·         6ft Round Tables and Limewash Chairs
·         An easel to display your table plan
·         A cake table and knife
·         Licensed bar facility after dinner in OSH
·         Use of our 120 acres of parklands and ground floor galleries for photographs

What time do we have access to the room from and until?

Access to the room can be guaranteed from 09.00 on the day of the wedding. Should the room be available the day before, the team will contact you closer to the event date to confirm access and availability.

You are welcome to drop items off the day prior to the wedding and the team will store and arrange these for you on the day as per your instructions.

Will the ceremony and the wedding breakfast take place in the same room?

This will be dependent on your numbers and chosen ceremony room. We can tailor the use of the space to your numbers and preferences.

The maximum for ceremonies is 100, who does this include?

It is important to note that whilst our maximum capacity for ceremonies is 100, this number needs to include the Bride and Groom, 2 registrars and a member of staff from Compton Verney along with any relevant suppliers such as a photographer, musicians etc.

Can we hold a civil ceremony only?

Absolutely; we are delighted to share any aspect of your big day with you.

Please be advised that a venue charge is still applicable.

May we throw confetti?

Yes, but you may be restricted to the grass and your confetti must be real/dried flower petals only.

Can guests leave their cars in the car park overnight?

Yes, however we ask that all vehicles are collected by 10.00 the following morning. We strongly advise pre-booking any taxis you may require.

Can we have candles?

There are some restrictions on candles; however, it is possible to use them within the Chapel and on our Portico, providing they are within enclosed candle holders and with advance notice. Candles are not permitted inside the main building.

Who decorates our tables?

If we are able to provide you access on the morning and potentially the day before, you are welcome to decorate your tables as long as the room is accessible. However, our event team are more than happy to do this, within reason.

Will we have exclusive use of Compton Verney?

Compton Verney is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday 10.00 – 17.00. However, the indoor spaces hired for weddings are private use, and outside of opening hours. As we are closed on Mondays, we offer weddings for exclusive use. We do not however offer more than one wedding on any one day.

What documents do my suppliers need to provide?

It is your responsibility to check that all contractors / suppliers have Public Liability Insurance, all electrical equipment over 12 months old is PAT tested and suppliers comply with current Health and Safety regulation. Please note, that fabrication of the venue and its fixtures cannot be damaged in any way, moved or relocated.

Do you cater for children?

Yes- Our caterers have put together child friendly menus for all little guests under the age of 12.
Guests over the age of 12 will be charged at the full adult price for food.

Can I have fireworks?

Fireworks or the releasing of sky lanterns or balloons are not permitted onsite due to protection of the local wildlife.

Is there disabled access?

Yes. We have disabled access throughout the venue and grounds. We also provide a shuttle bus service free of charge up to the main house

Are dogs allowed?

Well behaved dogs are welcomed to Compton Verney to the grounds. Assistance dogs will be permitted both inside the House and Galleries. If you want your furry friend to be a part of your photographs, we will do our best to work with you to make this happen.

What if we need to cancel?

Our terms & conditions will be sent out upon confirmation which states our cancellation policy. We strongly advise couples to take out an insurance policy to cover unforeseen cancellations.

When are our payments due?

A deposit of 25% of the agreed venue hire will be charged on booking. The balance is then invoiced 4 months ahead of your wedding.

100 guests or fewer are welcome for ceremony. Weddings in The Chapel to begin from 3pm, Gallery access from 4pm and last dance at 11.30pm with all guests off site by 12midnight. 120 guests or fewer are welcome for the wedding breakfast and 150 guests or less welcome in the evening.

For small wedding rates please request a bespoke quote stating preferred dates and number of guests.
Bank holiday and Christmas weekends are priced separately.
