This model was probably made by someone who was actually a potter. Two men, the potter and his assistant are in the workshop and they both move when operated by a key from the reverse. The man on the right is turning the flywheel that drives the potter’s wheel, and he raises his left arm intermittently to mop his brow with a rag. This potter, seated at his wheel, is drawing a pot and, when the wheel turns, his arms move up and down to shape the revolving form. At his side is a pile of clay and on the floor is a tray of unfired pottery ready for the kiln. Behind the two men are shelves of white-painted zinc-crockery.
