Enjoy Compton Verney between Christmas and New Year
Spend the long relaxing days between Christmas and New Year enjoying the grounds, galleries and all that Compton Verney has to offer. We remain open until 3pm on Christmas Eve, open again as usual from 27-30 December, open until 3pm on New Year’s Eve, then open on 1 January for New Year’s Day! From unique family activities and a chance to see world-class objects in an “enthralling” exhibition, find out what you can enjoy below.

History in the Making
Spend a few hours discovering the untold stories of extraordinary objects in our exhibition History in the Making across different galleries. You can find out how contemporary artists have made crystals from the sweat of ballet dancers and furniture from silkworm cocoons then, see a child’s rattle from 1817 made of coral and a tapestry from 1660 made from a design by Raphael.
Before you leave the exhibition, add your own work to our interactive wall and visit Liquid Silver: by Jo Gane; an exhibition in partnership with Warwickshire Libraries and Coventry Biennale that explores Victorian photography processes with contemporary sitters.

Restaurant
Take a break from all the Christmas cooking and visit our restaurant after exploring our grounds and galleries. Stop for a spot of tea and something sweet or enjoy a full lunch made in-house by our chefs with seasonal and locally-sourced food.

Grounds
Delight in the frosty air with a walk around our lake and meadows, taking in the splendour of Capability Brown’s landscape at Christmas time. If you’re with little ones, take part in the Winter trail and engage with the landscape in a new way by helping us find eight artworks hiding in the grounds to earn a Compton Verney badge.

Visitors can also freely explore our six permanent collections and other aspects of our grounds including: The Women’s Library, Folk Art Galleries, Bird Hide and Chapel. Families can also take part in sand art and Artist Play days that are on for a limited time over the festive period.
