Access
Compton Verney aims to be welcoming and accessible to all visitors.
We have 12 dedicated Blue Badge parking bays in the car park, located in front of the Welcome Centre. The footpaths throughout the Park are wheelchair friendly with a few slight inclines. If you’d rather have a lift up to the Gallery there is a volunteer operated shuttle which runs every week day and some weekends. The shuttle is fully accessible with an automatic ramp to take wheelchairs or those unable to step into the vehicle.
We welcome assistance dogs throughout the Gallery and Park. Assistance dogs in training are also welcome, please make sure that tabards or collar/lead tags are visible.
Once you have purchased your tickets at the Welcome Centre, if there is no shuttle bus service, you are also welcome to drop off visitors at the front door to the gallery. Please let the team in the Welcome Centre know that you will be doing this and the driver will need to return the car directly to the car park.
The Welcome Centre has level flooring throughout, automatic doors, disabled toilets, a low level counter for admission tickets and hearing loops.
Throughout the park there are footpaths which have either a tarmac or compacted gravel surface. There are a few inclines in places.
The distance from the Welcome centre to the house is 426m with the path 1.7m wide at its narrowest point.
The dipping pond and bird hide are accessed by boardwalks and paths which are wheelchair accessible.
The courtyard and the path around the outside of the building is loose gravel, although an alternative routes through the Gallery is available.
The entrance to the Gallery is ramped and the front door has an automatic open push pad. There are level floors throughout and there is a lift to all floors making them fully accessible to wheelchair and pushchair users.
The Chapel is located behind the gallery and can be reached via footpaths. Please be aware that there is a reasonably steep incline. We can assist you with this if required.
There is ramp access to the Chapel. The footpath directly in front of the Chapel has a loose gravel surface.
Stick stools are available in the galleries and wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge from the Shop upon arrival (subject to availability) or they can be pre-booked in advance by calling 01926 645 500 or emailing
